Join us January 9 for the annual SBSHRM/FordHarrison Half-Day Legal Conference- New Year Edition, featuring a special guest speaker from U.S. Department of Labor and attorneys Andy Hament, Michelle Tatum and Louis Wilson from FordHarrison’s Melbourne Office.

  • Our afternoon will include our regular lunch plus:
    • Legal Update for 2020- New Year’s Edition: What’s new and what coming in the workplace for the year ahead, including latest on significant developments from the NLRB and what’s planned in Tallahassee, presented by Louis Wilson
    • Employer Compliance Obligations under the FMLA:  A Perspective from the US Department of Labor, featuring a presentation and review of legal requirements under the FMLA by William “Roy” Richardson from the Jacksonville Office of the DOL
    • Legal Pitfalls to Avoid in Interviews, Hiring and On-Boarding: What can I ask, the impact of technology, and what documents should I have in my file?- presented by Michelle Tatum
    • Investigations Master Class: Best Practice for Conducting Workplace Investigations- a review of key steps and practical advice to be sure you properly investigate and address workplace concerns, presented by Andy Hament


Speaker BIO:

WILLIAM RICHARDSON began his career as a Federal Investigator with the USDOL’s Wage and Hour Division enforcing the provisions of Acts such as the  FLSA, FMLA and the SCA / Davis-Bacon Acts for government contracts. Currently, he serves as an Outreach and Planning Specialist, working to provide compliance assistance and educate the public on the requirements of the laws that the Wage and Hour Division enforces. His compliance efforts have been recognized with Special Congressional Recognition and multiple Secretary of Labor’s Exceptional Achievement Awards.
